Fabric bags

Marimekko canvas bags come in many different materials and designs. Take good care of your fabric bag by following these simple instructions.

Washing

The proper washing method can be checked from the care label attached to the product. If there is a line under the washing symbol, it guides you to select a gentle washing cycle and a low spin speed. For products that can be washed, Marimekko recommends hand washing.

Correct washing temperature

Follow the recommended washing temperature, since washing at too low temperatures may cause unwanted color transfer. It’s usually advisable to wash bags inside out to minimize the impact on the fabric’s surface and colors.

Strong colors

Some dye may come off the products, especially in the first few washes. Dark and brightly colored bags should therefore be washed separately or with similar colors in plenty of water. Soaking is not recommended for hand-wash bags.

Assess the need for washing

Brushing is an easy way to remove light dirt and clean the surface of the bag. Even if the bag gets stained, it may not need to be washed. Gentle spot cleaning is usually enough. Avoid bleaching stain removers.

Cotton canvas bags

Heavyweight cotton canvas is extremely durable and long-lived. It is characteristic of cotton canvas products, darker ones in particular, that the color softens with use, washing, and sunlight.
